PONCEY- HIGHLAND PARKS & TRAILS
Lush and expansive Freedom Park runs directly through the center of the neighborhood. Offering a forest within the city, the park combines urban living with free access to serene, open land for relaxation and exercise. Freedom Park is a true artery that connects intown Atlanta neighborhoods to a few incredible amenities: The BeltLine, The Carter Center, Little Five Points, Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market, local farmers’ markets, and beyond.
THE ATLANTA BELTLINE
Poncey-Highland’s western boundary is contoured by The Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail. The BeltLine is the most comprehensive transportation and economic development effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs underway in the nation. The BeltLine provides a network of public parks, multi-use trails, and transit along a historic 22-mile railroad corridor circling downtown and connecting Poncey-Highland to the greater Atlanta community.
FOURTH WARD PARK
Dedicated by Mayor Kasim Reed in 2011, Historic Fourth Ward Park is a glistening oasis where there once stood little more than cracked asphalt and trash-strewn fields. Located across Poncey-Highland’s BeltLine border, the park offers 17 acres of open greenspace. Passive lawns, a playground, a splashpad, an outdoor theater, and a 2-acre lake dot the park alongside a world-class skatepark, secondary playground, and large multi-use athletic field that hosts events that range from yoga to kickball to music and food festivals.
